9. The Glades – 5th Hole4 of 13

The Glades GC 5th – Gold Coast, Queensland.

The Glades Golf Club boasts the reputation as one of Australia’s most prestigious resort golf courses on the Gold Coast. Designed by champion Australian golfing icon, Greg Norman, the course is typical of his trademark aggressive layouts offering golfers a challenging round of golf with visually stunning surrounds.

98 bunkers are spread across the entire layout. with none bigger than the sandy monster beside the 5th hole. From each of the three teeing grounds, this 90-metre-long bunker runs along the left edge of the fairway and green, separating the playing line from the wetlands.

Another lone bunker has been placed short and right of the putting surface to catch the overly cautious player who tries to avoid the water and sand. Closely trimmed slopes around the edges of the target feed any less than perfect tee shots away from the green. The hole is classic Greg Norman with the aesthetic quality distracting you from the trouble that lies at every corner.
