Barnbougle Dunes - 7th Hole

Barnbougle Dunes GC 7th – Bridport, Tasmania.

The fabulous Barnbougle Dunes designed by Tom Doak opened in 2004 and has quickly established itself in the world’s top 100 courses. Occupying a two mile stretch of giant sand dunes along Bass Strait, the course was the vision of a persistent young links fanatic who pestered, harassed and finally managed to convince a gruff potato farmer, and staunch non-golfer, to convert part of his 14,000-acre Barnbougle farmland into a golf course.

The memorable par 3 7th known as ‘Tom’s Little Devil’ commonly plays into the prevailing winds to a small enclosed green that is surrounded by a severe bunker on the left side and steep banks both to the right of the green and through.

Despite measuring just 110 metres the hole witnesses its fair share of drama and can easily put a severe dent on the scorecard. It is however arguably the best one-shotter on either course at Barnbougle.
