3. Tin Cup

A great movie for so many reasons. Tin Cup is filled with laughs, drama, and romance as well as mixing comedy with some actual golfing!

Roy “Tin Cup” McAvoy (Kevin Costner) – a former golf prodigy – teaches at his own driving range, essentially his only sanctum. When Dr. Molly Griswold (Rene Russo) takes a lesson Roy immediately takes a liking to her. But as a clinical psychologist, she quickly sees through his attempts to woo her.

Fictional golf star David Simms who is Molly’s girlfriend, asks Roy to caddy for him. However they fall out over some on course shot choices. Upset, Roy decides he is going to qualify for the US Open. He also tries to get Molly, getting her assistance in rebuilding his confidence in exchange for golf lessons.

Tin Cup qualifies, in the final round of the US Open, he is in the heat of the tournament, with the decision to lay up or go proving to be the decision that will make or brake him.

We won’t give away the outcome but this is a genuine must see movie for all golf fans.
