2. Happy Gilmore

Adam Sandler movies are very much hit or miss but Happy Gilmore is right up there as potentially his best. The movie is the inspiration behind the infamous “running start golf swing”, attempted by basically anyone who has ever seen the movie and held a golf club.

The movie depicts Happy’s quest to beat rival Shooter McGavin (Christopher MacDonald) with the help of his one-handed golf coach “Chubbs” (Carl Weathers) and earn enough money to save his beloved mother’s house from the IRS. Perhaps the most memorable scene is the ridiculous confrontation between Happy and pro-am partner Bob Barker who plays himself.

Either way this cult-status flick has left generations of young golfers ‘tapping it in’, telling the ball to ‘go home’ and ‘playing it as it lies’ all over the world.
