At the 1995 Open Championship Constantino Rocca walked up the 18th fairway knowing he needed a birdie to force a play-off with big-hitting American John Daly. Rocca’s drive had left him short left of the putting surface however the pressure of the situation got to him and he fluffed his chip into the valley of sin.
What happened next was one of the greatest moments in Open Championship history. Rocca took his time and then rolled in the 100+ foot putt sending the crowd wild and the Italian to his knees in a mixture of jubilation and relief. Rocca couldn’t finish it off however, as Daly beat him in the play-off to earn his second major championship.
