After already capturing the US Open and The Open Championship by record margins in the year 2000 it was hard to imagine any other than another Tiger victory at the season’s final major. Journeyman pro Bob May had other ideas as he pushed Tiger all the way, making birdie on the 72nd hole to secure a play-off and then eventually missing out by a single stroke.
It was on the first hole of that playoff that we were treated to one of Tiger’s most iconic celebrations, he literally chased down his birdie putt and giving it the classic Shooter McGavin finger trigger as it dropped.
