Padraig Harrington won his third major championship at Oakland Hills just a month after winning the Open Championship. In Harrington’s first major championship win in the Open at Carnoustie the year previously Sergio Garcia had been the man to miss out. This turned out the to be the case again as the Spaniard went toe to toe with Harrington throughout the back nine before finding the water on 16 and pulling his birdie putt wide on 17.

Many claim that the Garcia is the finest player of the modern era without a major championship. If he ends his career without winning one, you can be certain the memory of Padraig’s victories will continue to give him nightmares.
